Bobbie Werbe, RVT, BS, CCRP, CERP

Circle City Veterinary Specialty is pleased to have Bobbie Werbe, RVT, BS, CCRP, CERP directing the rehabilitation service. Bobbie graduated from Purdue University in 2003 with an Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology and in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She quickly passed the national and state board exams to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. In 2004 she completed an internship at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, in Companion Animal Physical Rehabilitation. In 2005 she became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner from the University of Tennessee's certificate program in canine rehabilitation. In 2007 she became a Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner from the University of Tennessee's certificate in equine rehabilitation.

Bobbie was the orthopedic surgery technician and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine for 5 years. During her time at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, Bobbie helped teach the certificate program in Canine Rehabilitation. Bobbie's veterinary interests include immediate post-operative rehabilitation, wound management, weight loss and rehabilitation for intervertebral disc herniation. Bobbie is a published author and has traveled the country to participate in veterinary symposiums on veterinary rehabilitation and physical therapy.

In 2006, Bobbie rescued a miniature dachshund, Billie, who had suffered a herniated disc in her back and was in dire need of surgery and a new home. Bobbie adopted her, and following surgery, performed physical rehabilitation twice daily with Billie in the underwater treadmill. At home, simply activities of daily life became physical rehabilitation exercises for Billie. Billie was fitted for wheelchair to assist with ambulation, but was walking independently within a year after surgery. In 2009, Billie had a second herniated disc in her back, she again underwent surgery and intense post-operative rehabilitation. Billie was walking within three days following her second episode. Bobbie recently rescued a second miniature dachshund, Winnie, who is a happy addition her family. In her spare time, Bobbie enjoys running marathons, cooking and reading.
